Job Summary:

The Customer Master Data Governance & Quality Senior Analyst manages the processes for maintaining customer master data objects. Applying data governance principles, the role ensures this key master data is appropriately governed, relevant, accurate, and fit for purpose.

Acting as primary data steward, the role ensures all Customer master data changes are managed through the correct governance process, to the agreed quality and SLA’s.

Working closely with the data owner, the role holder is responsible for agreeing the data handling, usage requirements, data quality issues and ensuring the Customer master data is accurate and fit for purpose. Additionally, the role holder will provide operational insights to ensure data is managed correctly throughout its lifecycle.

What you will be doing:

  • Governance Framework & Strategy
  • Own the creation and maintenance of customer master data policies, standards, and processes for managing data throughout its lifecycle.
  • Define who is accountable for specific customer data assets and establish protocols for how data should be accessed, used, and protected.
  • Develop and lead governance initiatives to improve process and data quality, acting as a responsible master data steward.

  • Data Quality & Integrity
  • Design, measure, and improve data quality standards across the organisation for master data in scope.
  • Ensure the integrity of master data between systems and improve the accuracy and quality of data available to stakeholders.
  • Design performance tracking of the customer master data processes to measure whether data is delivering value as expected.
  • Identify data improvement initiatives and prioritise delivery by working closely with the relevant master data owners.

  • Business Partnering & Operational Support
  • Provide subject matter expertise (SME) on the management of customer data used across the organisation.
  • Partner with data owners and business stakeholders to improve the efficiency and value of processes by ensuring the right data is available at the right time without errors.
  • Establish trust by providing confidence that data is reliable and transparently managed, supporting data-driven decision-making.

  • Culture & Education
  • Support the development of a data-driven culture through the delivery of training, reporting, and education initiatives related to Customer data.
  • Support business and projects by providing specialised data SME knowledge.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data management, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience in customer master data governance, data quality management, or related roles.
  • Proven experience with data governance frameworks, data lifecycle management, best practice Customer data management.
  • Proven hands-on experience with SAP customer master data.
  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing relationships with data owners and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead data quality improvement initiatives and implement governance strategies.
  • Experience in fostering a data-driven culture.
  • Experienced in delivering continuous improvement initiatives and automation of manual processes.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Technical / Functional Knowledge: Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality standards, and end-to-end data lifecycle management. Strong understanding of Source to pay or Order to cash process areas.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify and resolve complex data issues using a logical, data-driven approach. Skilled in root cause analysis and implementing sustainable solutions.
  • Organisation Expertise: Deep understanding of data governance within the broader business context. Collaborates effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure data integrity and alignment with business objectives.
  • Accountability: Takes ownership of data governance initiatives and ensures timely delivery of high-quality results. Escalates risks or issues professionally and proactively.
  • Leadership: Supports the development of a data-driven culture by leading by example, delivering training, and sharing best practices. Represents the data governance function in cross-functional meetings and projects.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Communicates clearly and effectively with internal stakeholders, data owners, and external partners. Builds trust by ensuring transparency and reliability in data management practices.
